Whether you often bump your toes against it, your mattress gets wet from spills, or sweat stains form: our mattresses have a tough life. Plus, they’re a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria. These aren’t visible to the naked eye and can be harmful to your health. Reason enough to clean and disinfect your mattress regularly.
Sleeping on a clean and healthy mattress is essential. Cleaning isn’t difficult and doesn’t necessarily require professional intervention. Regular maintenance with natural products you can buy at home may be sufficient. These are also very effective and less expensive. To get rid of dust, stains, and dust mites (allergic substances that can cause health problems), it’s important to clean and disinfect your mattress. To dry clean your bedding, here are 3 ways to do it naturally
Cleaning the mattress
Baking soda
, or sodium bicarbonate, is the ideal product for removing stains, neutralizing unpleasant odors, and disinfecting. It’s the ultimate multipurpose ingredient because it can be used to clean any surface in your home. Before use, sprinkle a sufficient amount of this white powder on the surface to be treated or on the entire mattress and let it sit for 1 hour. After this time, brush the entire surface with a soft brush to remove dust mites from the mattress in a circular motion. Then, vacuum the entire mattress to remove dust, mites, and baking soda residue. For greater effectiveness, if possible, place the mattress in the sun and sprinkle it with baking soda. The sun and the white powder work best to kill bacteria and tiny creatures that enter your mattress. Finally, use the vacuum cleaner to remove any excess baking soda.
Another way to do this is to mix 250 grams of baking soda with 5 drops of tea tree essential oil and sprinkle this strained mixture on the mattress. After an hour, vacuum the mattress and do the same on the other side.
