Turkish Milk Bread in a Pan

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, dry yeast and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the foamy yeast mixture.
  4. Add the olive oil to the mixture.
  5. Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients, mixing well until a dough forms.
  6. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  7. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  8. Preheat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  9. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball.
  10. Roll out each ball into a flat circle about 1/2 inch thick.
  11. Place the flattened dough in the preheated pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  12. Repeat with remaining portions.
  13. Once cooked, remove from the pan and let the bread cool for a few minutes.
  14. Serve Turkish milk bread warm. It is delicious on its own or with toppings like honey, cheese or jam.

Enjoy your homemade Turkish milk bread!
