Oven Baked Chicken Fried Steak
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a shallow dish, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
In another shallow dish, beat the eggs and mix in the buttermilk.
In a third dish, combine the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Shake off any excess.
Dip the floured steak into the egg mixture, then press it into the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, coating well on both sides.
Place the breaded steaks on the prepared baking sheet and lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the steaks are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a bit more spice, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture. If you prefer, you can use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs for an extra crunchy texture. For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour and breadcrumbs with gluten-free alternatives. Finally, serving with a homemade or store-bought gravy can make this dish even more indulgent.
