Kentucky Butter Cake with Salted Caramel

How to bake Kentucky Salted Caramel Butter Cake:
Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Generously grease and flour a 12-cup cake pan or 10-inch bundt pan.
In a large bowl, combine flour, 2 cups sugar, salt, baking powder and soda water, buttermilk, 1 cup butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla, and eggs; beat on low speed until moistened. Increase mixer speed to medium and continue beating mixture for about 3 minutes. Spoon batter into cake pan, spreading evenly.
Bake cake in preheated oven for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over low heat, combine 3/4 cup sugar, 1/3 cup butter, 3 tablespoons water, and 2 teaspoons vanilla; cook, stirring, until butter is melted. Do not bring mixture to a boil.
Remove cake from pan and place on wire rack. Prick with a fork or skewer while it is still in pan. Pour hot butter sauce over hot cake.
