4 large oranges (juice)
1 large lemon (juice)
1 liter of cold water (with or without gas)
1/3 cup sugar (or to taste)
A handful of fresh mint leaves
Finely grated zest of 1/2 orange and 1/2 lemon
Ice to taste
Orange and lemon slices, and mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the citrus juices: Squeeze the oranges and lemon. Strain if preferred.
Prepare the mint and zest: Wash the mint and crush lightly. Finely grate the zest of half an orange and half a lemon (avoid the white part, which is bitter).
Mix the ingredients: In a pitcher, combine the orange juice, lemon juice, water, sugar, crushed mint and citrus zest.
Dissolve the sugar: Stir until the sugar dissolves. Taste and adjust sugar if necessary.
Add ice: Place ice in the pitcher.
Serve and decorate: Serve very cold, decorating with orange and lemon slices, and mint, if desired.
Tips for an even better flavor:
Use good quality oranges: Fresh, juicy oranges will make all the difference in the flavor of your drink.
Don’t overdo the mint: Although mint is aromatic, using too much can make the drink taste too strong. Start with a handful and add more if needed.
Prepare in advance: If you have time, prepare the drink and let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before adding the ice. This allows the flavors to blend better.
Experiment with other herbs: If you like, you can add some basil or rosemary for a different touch.
Enjoy this delicious and aromatic drink! It’s perfect for a hot day or to accompany a good snack.
