Ingredients You’ll Need
For the Cake:
1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (or homemade vanilla cake batter)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 cup water (or milk for a richer texture)
For the Cinnamon Filling:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
2–3 tbsp ground cinnamon (adjust to taste)
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (adjust for thickness)
1–2 tbsp milk (optional, for consistency)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Preheat and Prep
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and set aside.
2. Make the Cake Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water (or milk). Beat with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and well combined (about 2 minutes).
3. Assemble the Layers
Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Drizzle half of the melted butter over the batter.
Sprinkle half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the butter.
Repeat the layers: pour the remaining batter, drizzle the rest of the butter, and sprinkle the remaining brown sugar and cinnamon.
4. Swirl the Layers
Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the layers together, creating a marbled effect. Be careful not to overmix—you want distinct swirls of cinnamon goodness.
