Prepare the croissant base:
Preheat oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat).
Roughly tear the croissants and mix them in a bowl with the melted butter and brown sugar.
Press the mixture into a greased tart pan (including the edges) and press down lightly.
Prepare the apples:
Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
Mix with lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar.
Spread evenly over the croissant base.
Make the caramel:
Slowly melt the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown (do not stir!).
Stir in the butter, then carefully add the cream (careful: it’s hot!).
Season with a pinch of salt and let cool slightly.
Drizzle about half of the caramel over the apples.
Bake:
Bake the tart for about 25–30 minutes, until the apples are soft and lightly browned.
Serve:
Drizzle with the remaining caramel.
Serve warm, e.g., with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
📌 Tip:
You can use brioche or butter croissants instead of croissants. For a nuttier flavor, sprinkle chopped pecans or almonds over the apples.
