Since ancient times, nothing more than a simple rag with a broom was used to wash the floor and the floors came back clean.

Over the years this technique has never been lost, but rather there has been the invention and experimentation of different types of washing rags , each aimed at cleaning a different type of floor.

However, other methods have taken over, such as the mop , which today represents the eternal rival of the rag!

Everyone, at least once, has asked themselves the question “what would be best to use for my home?”. Well, there is no definitive answer, but you can see what the advantages, or the so-called pros and cons of both the rag and the mop are.

Let’s discover them together to clarify our ideas!
Why use the mop?

The mop , as already mentioned, concerns a washing method that has existed for less time than the cloth, despite this there are many people who choose it every day.

There are various types, it is no coincidence that before purchasing it there is always careful reflection on which one to choose .

The most used ones are:

Rotating mop : one of the most convenient. This mop, once wet, can be wrung out effortlessly by placing it on the special rotating device which will rotate by pressing the foot on a pedal on the sides of the bucket. Fantastic if you don’t want to stoop and make any effort at all.
Mop with telescopic stick : excellent for overcoming all the difficulties that arise when you have to adjust the stick according to your height. In fact, this mop can be lengthened or shortened with simple movements.

Well, in addition to many positive solutions, the mop is often put aside because it is believed that it can never be cleaned thoroughly and that, consequently, it does not give the floor a fully shiny and clear appearance.

To date, however, there are some heads that come off and are conveniently machine washable.

Who wins between the two?

So, between the two, who wins this arduous challenge ?

As in all things, you must above all see what your personal needs are, as you may find one or the other more useful depending on your habits .

In general it might be a good idea to have both the mop and the cloth at home and perhaps use the mop for a quick wipe and the cloth when you have to throw a lot of water on the floor and there are many stains.

However, you must always consider that washing the floor is very tiring at times , so having only the mop, suitable for all types of floors, could be the turning point, but the choice is entirely up to you!
