Classic Fried Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:
For the chicken:

3–4 lbs chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, breasts, wings)

2 cups buttermilk

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp paprika (optional)

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

For the dredge (coating):

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

For frying:

Vegetable oil (for deep frying, about 4–6 cups)
